Holiday Inn Express Leigh - Sports Village By IHG

Stayed in Manchester with a group of kids and also adults- large booking of 9 rooms- however non related, just within a sports club together. The stay was good, rooms clean food was average, however when we returned home we noticed the hotel had taken money for a room from My account without authorisation. We rang the receptionist who initially was unhelpful, stating there wa little she could do. She then returned the call advising there had been a mix up, however claiming that someone else had received a refund in my group and until they returned it we would not get our money back!!! How that makes sense I don’t know, this continued on via emails and phone calls: I was hung up on twice by the desk managers and told “I’m Not a magician” I was also asked to go and ask each person to check their accounts to make sure they paid what they should have!? Really?? So after very long winded emails they provided the last 4 digit of the card number who seemingly received an email, no receipt or name. We have no idea who this belongs too, not mine or the lead booker, who they claim received the refund. After seeking legal advice and only after elevating this to the hotel groups complaints did I get a refund of the money that was stolen from my account without permission p.s this was admitted in an email by the hotel! This camera month after they stole my money!!! So be careful and check ur account at check out- ask for a receipt and confirm final charges on check out. Also Maybe use a credit card to pay because the hotel also charged 2 rooms to another persons account that weekend only the credit card put a hold and refused the payment! Imagine a hotel taking money without authorisation, acknowledging the mistake and the refusing to refund because they needed recouped from the person who they mistakenly refunded!! Not my issue I would say. Poor customer service and to be honest the attitude of the 2 ladies on the front desk who took the phone calls and also the tone of the emails recived was less than professional. It was actually rude, cheeky and u helpful.

Stayed here for an event at the sports village. The staff are an absolute credit. They were all lovely (even when I was unhappy at the £100 deposit). Just as you would expect from a Holiday Inn. Clean rooms, spacious and tidy. Quiet corridors on a night. Lovely, comfy beds. Bathroom well maintained with walk in shower!! Food on an evening was OK and breakfast was nice. It had enough food, was replenished quickly and fresh. Plentiful car parking and easy to find off motorway. Staff are what make this hotel - they are an absolute credit. Don't agree with taking £100 deposit for a room that only cost £67 but hey, its refunded quickly. I cant see it being a rowdy hotel for damages!

Visited hotel for one night whilst attending concert at Leigh Sports Village next door. We were very impressed with the location as it was right next to the concert venue. The hotel was clean, rooms basic but large and did the job perfectly and the breakfast was fresh and tasty. The staff had to handle lots of people trying to get into the hotel after the concert when they were not residents. They handled this in an efficient and professional manner. Overall enjoyed my one night at this hotel and would recommend.
