Mercure Manchester Piccadilly

Thankfully we only attended the hotel for an event on Friday. This event was sold out so the hotel would clearly know the volume of people attending. The queues at the bars were terrible, the food service was slow and disjointed and the QR code they put on the table to order drinks to save going up to the bar stopped working. We still didn't get all the drinks we ordered via it in the end, we just gave up queuing! The main course was poor quality with hard lumps in it and the pudding was stone cold. Despite knowing how many were attending they were vastly understaffed and who ever planned for the event is doing a terrible job. So I would say avoid this place if you can.

We booked this hotel for Friday 25/09/26 for a 70th birthday present for me and one of my sons. Legends was hosting a evening with Eric Cantona. We had spoken to reception just over a week ago to confirm our booking and everything was good, the receptionist mentioned it jam pack so it looks like a great night. Out the blue three days ago we got a email saying our reservation was cancelled as the hotel had decided to refurbished all the bedrooms, but the Eric Cantona evening was still on, What hotel business would cancel all the reservation on a event evening especially when your sold out and expecting a full house, it doesn't make sense and also doesn't add up, surely get this night out the way, look at the future booking and plan a bedroom refurbishment. I would also think the organisation Legends won't be very happy the way this hotel has treated there guests, I am guessing the hotel will be expecting these guests to be spending moneys on the bar not sure we will handing to much over when there's plenty of bars around.

A grim experience. This hotel isn't just tired, it's catatonic. What a grotty, grubby room. The coffee machine leaked, there were pubic hairs around the edge of the bath, paint peeling off the tiles and a brown crust on the tiled bath panel. Something horrible was lurking on the skirting board at the side of the bed. Look, I know the hotel is being refurbished but that doesn't excuse filth. Thank God it was only one night.
