Holiday Inn Express John Lennon Airport

Stayed here prior to flying out from John Lennon Airport. We booked this property back in April 2026. We picked our room location and added early check-in the day before arriving. We arrived 15 minutes early and waited with a drink at the bar. Upon checking in we were informed that we had £23 to pay and could not have a room key until payment was made. Reception told us it was for choose my room and early check-in. Despite showing confirmation emails and bank statements we were still refused a room. I again showed proof which was not accepted. The decision amongst us was to go stay elsewhere and claim a refund from Travelodge for monies we’d already paid. Reception then informed us that a confirmation email had been received and we could check in.

Decent hotel with lovely staff. Only downside was the room was very hot as no A/C available, Excellent breakfast with the sausages being particularly tasty. Other food was good at sensible cost. Good bus connections nearby.

I have stayed at this hotel a few times but wont ever stay again . My partner and I were not told the air con wasn't working &won't be until "a complete refurb takes place"until we arrived at the hotel so we spent 2 unbelievably (dangerously) hot nights here . Their cop out was that theyd taken the air con facility off the website ! We were told there was a fan in the room (there wasn't ) We were told after phoning reception there'd be one sent up (they didn't) and when it finally arrived it was useless . Toiletry basics not filled up so had to request more (which they weren't End of us ever staying in what should be a convenient hotel for us visiting the city .
