Avoid this hotel when booking somewhere to stay my experience July 2026 . On arrival we was asked to pay our bill we had previously stayed some years ago was ok . We paid soon has we got in the room it smelt damp , there was a bath with shower overhead my wife is disabled so can’t get in a bath then we noticed cold tap on sink not working , then the safe would not lock there was mould around the bath not that I could use it . I then went to reception and reported this was informed they only had 2 room with showers . We came up from Yorkshire has we had family coming over from Australia. The reception informed me my complaints would be sorted . Guess what they were not . Then on the table in the room it had a document which said rooms would only be cleaned if staying more than 3 days ??. If we required clean towels and toilet paper go to reception . This is not good hygiene standards for a hotel , it had wood door into garden they was filthy don’t think ever been cleaned also the door would not close properly so the draught was blowing through we ended up putting towels to block the gap . The hotel needs closing and refurbishing it out dated and tired I don’t live like this at home so why would I live like it here at a cost of £660-14 pence for 4 nights bed , breakfast . We paid because has I have said we came up to see family from Australia. On Sunday our last night about 3 pm I got a phone call from home about a medical emergency, so straight away informed reception I had to go home to deal with emergency. I asked would I be able to get a refund for the last night , went through all the problems that was wrong with the room again . which I might add was not dealt with . The reception staff said she agreed with me 💯 percent but when I asked to speak to manager guess what not there . She informed me they would be in touch as yet nothing !!!!. Surprise surprise . Staff lovely management come out of hiding and face your customers the only good thing to come out of it was got to see family whom I won’t see again . I would not recommend this hotel .

Booked this hotel as a treat for my wife as we were going to a show in Edinburgh and the hotel is not too far away. We arrived at the hotel around 23:00 after a busy day, check in was smooth, the room was as expected with a 4 poster bed and garden view, as it was so late we went to bed and I thought as the football was on I would watch the end of the game, no such luck, the television was receiving a poor signal and the picture was breaking up, didn't see any point in trying to get it sorted out at that time of night. After a good night's sleep I went to go for a shower and couldn't find dressing gowns or slippers as listed on room facilities, after showering we went for breakfast, the girl on the breakfast desk was told our room number and that was it, no good morning, no further conversation, we found a table then helped ourselves to breakfast. On returning to the room I thought I would have a wander into the garden, the door to the garden from the room was unlocked as it obviously had been all night and while we were at breakfast, as the room was on the ground floor I didn't think that was a door that should have been unlocked. On checkout I did mention lack of bathrobes and television signal to the receptionist, she said she would have these rectified for the next guests, I was very disappointed in the whole experience especially at the cost of our stay, If looking to stay in the area again (which we have done in the past ) I don't think that I would be booking this hotel again.

This is a comfortable hotel in a nice setting with nice decor. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Our deal included a glass of wine with dinner and we got the choice of four different reds which I wasn’t expecting, so that was a plus. Where the place lets itself down is with the food. The choices are very limited and the quality of the food is, at best, average as far as dinner was concerned and poor as far as breakfast was concerned. For that reason we will probably not go back.
