Edinburgh Central Youth Hostel

Large hostel in a location that is not exactly central but not too far away either. 15 minutes on foot from the station. Kitchen well-stocked with everything. Dining room perhaps undersized in proportion to the property. It is perfect for those with few expectations.

Clean, comfortable, friendly helpful staff, great facilities ( only used laundry but kitchen looked very clean and fully stocked). Shower was amazing, strong and plenty of hot water. Room wasn’t huge, but more than adequate.

The first thing to remember is that it is not a hotel, but a hostel. It is quite close to the downtown area, although it may seem farther away according to the map. Without a doubt, the best thing is the staff, always attentive and friendly. Another advantage is that you can cook in the common area - kitchen and dining room - and combined with the proximity of a supermarket, it allows you to make your own food if you do not want to go out; and if you are missing something, you can always take something from the area where people leave things they have left over or do not finish. It has an area next to the reception that looks more like a hotel than a hostel, with armchairs to have a drink, tables for breakfast - the "wee breakfast" is quite good for the price - or to eat something. Without a doubt, it is a good value-for-money option for visiting Edinburgh as a family.
