Haymarket Hotel

Good location right at Haymarket station. On arrival 17 July the receptionist asked us for ID, said it was a legal requirement. We are Scottish so its a hotel policy, but not advised of this on the website. Got over that with bank cards on phones. Assigned room 22 down stairs. Lovely big room with a little patio in a small walled garden. This is where the good bit ends. Looking for towels we found dirty underwear and a used incontinence pad on the cupboard. When mentioned to the receptionist they looked at each other and gave us 2 complimentary drinks tokens. WOW. They offered to have the room fully cleaned while we were out. Sounds good. NO..... the dirty underwear and pad had been removed but on checking the room there was a dirty tissue in another drawer. A dirty plug hole in the bathroom where the muck came away with the running water. A bug running around the bathroom floor and hairs on the bathroom floor just.made this room worse. My fear came when I had to Pull the quilt back and no surprise here, but the bed sheet had a black mark o. It. We slept on top.of rhe quilt all night. Left the next day tired and disgusted. Complaint was left at reception, as no manager on. Email received Tursday from the hotel advising - Following your report, another member of our team carried out an inspection of the room and found it to be in good condition overall. REALLY this is good condition??? At £210 a night I was expecting their standards to be a little higher. I have replied to this on Wednesday 22 July, as I feel they are not taking this seriously but still.no reply despite 2 phone messages left too.

We stayed here for access to Muurayfield stadium and it was ideal. The location of the hotel is ideal for transport too as the tram stop is round the corner. Edinburgh Haymarket station is just across the road too. Special thanks to Max who was on the front desk for a great welcome and was very helpful. The room we had was a family room and spotless on arrival. Considering it's location the room we had was lovely and quiet.

Really nice hotel, with lovely breakfast and nice rooms.
