Booked our stay through Booking.com but the actual check in at the hotel was quick and easy. Our room was on the fourth floor and was lovely. Very spacious, although I know this does vary from room to room. Everything was spotless and ready for our stay though. Hotel is a great location as it’s not far from Edinburgh Waverley Train Station and is also in very close proximity to plenty of shops. My partner went to the breakfast in the morning which I’m told was quite busy even at the so called less busy time. She was still able to get a table though and the food was good. The staff at the front desk were lovely and very helpful.

The entrance looks new but the rooms on the ground floors really are too tiny for 2 people with 2 suitcases. Even small bags. There is also a very musty smell and a damp feel in the chilly rooms that don't seem to warm up. The carpets throughout the hotel are stained and dirty. We had 5 rooms between the 9 of us. The single on the top floor was OK except for the dirty carpet but the other 4 were on the ground floor. One couple switched hotels. 😔

We landed at EDI, hopped on a tram to the city center, and about 30 minutes later were right across the street from our home base for the week. We were diagonally across from a theater, down the street from a comedy show, and just a 10-minute walk from the train station, hop-on/hop-off bus, monuments, parks, Edinburgh Castle, and countless restaurants and pubs. Upon check-in, Arianna, who was warm and personable, helped us get settled on our preferred floor, explained the hotel amenities, breakfast hours, and nearby restaurants (some offering discounts), and provided a map of the area. Any questions during our stay were cheerfully answered by the front desk staff. The hotel stays busy with buses regularly loading and unloading tour groups. There’s an onsite bar, 24-hour coffee and tea, early continental breakfast starting at 5 a.m. by reception, and a full hot breakfast upstairs from 6:30 a.m., with plenty of seating both levels—just check the busy times. Our room was clean, comfortable, and cool. The shower could use an upgrade, but it had excellent water pressure. Room was attended to each day. We had a fantastic stay, would recommend it in a heartbeat, and would happily return if back in the area. Enjoy!
