Unfortunately, my stay at Leonardo Hotel Edinburgh Haymarket between August 09-12, 2026 was extremely disappointing, especially considering that I paid around USD 400 per night. At this price level, I expected at least a reasonable standard of comfort and basic amenities. The bathroom was by far the biggest problem. The shower head could not be properly adjusted or moved, and the bathtub was extremely narrow. Taking a shower basically meant trying to move different parts of your body under the fixed stream of water one by one. It was uncomfortable and certainly not what I would expect from a hotel charging this kind of rate. Even worse, there were several brown stains/marks inside the bathtub, which made the whole experience feel unpleasant and unhygienic. The sink area was equally badly designed. The tap was positioned in such an awkward way that washing your hands without touching the basin was almost a challenge. There was also no toilet brush in the bathroom. I specifically asked the hotel to provide one, but despite my request, it was never delivered. Then there is the drinking water situation. Complimentary water was provided only on the first day. When I asked about water on the following days, I was told that I would need to buy it downstairs — at roughly four times the normal retail price. We are talking about a bottle of water. When a guest is paying around $400 per night, providing a bottle of water each day should surely not be considered an unreasonable expectation. Storage was another issue. The wardrobe contained only three hangers, which is simply inadequate for a multi-day stay. There were no slippers and virtually none of the basic amenities one might normally expect in a hotel room, apart from liquid soap. Finally, the rooms themselves are quite small, adding to the overall cramped feeling. I understand that Edinburgh hotel prices can be very high during busy periods, but a high room rate should still come with an acceptable level of comfort, cleanliness and attention to basic guest needs. Unfortunately, my experience here fell far below that standard. For the price I paid, I simply cannot recommend this hotel.

My husband and I are moving in my daughter into the University of Edinburgh on Saturday. So we booked a 4 night stay on Expedia at Leonardo= $1,934. Sharing because this is not what I expected at all! ((We have 6 suitcases for my daughter’s weekend move in to Uni)). I am VERY surprised at the lack of service. When I got to the desk it seemed the reception was annoyed I was there. Uber left us outside and so I needed to track down a cart. I tracked down the only one trolly-cart there is. I am VERY surprised there is only 1 trolly for suitcases. And even more surprised that no one asked if we need help…and there was no warm customary greeting which one usually gets on a hotel. With difficulty we loaded the cart we tracked down ourselves, but sadly it did not even fit through the front door! So we proceeded to manually bring in the 50lb x6 bags…plus carryons. Front-desk came to me annoyed saying we can’t be here in lobby. Unfortunately these duffle bags are fragile and packed to the brim. The lady was annoyed with us and tried to move our bags to the basement area but there were stairs. So she removed one bag and dragged it across the floor. I pleaded to leave the luggage anywhere on the main floor and finally she agreed. >>>For the record I have never stayed in a hotel at this price point with this negative and unfriendly welcome. I was hoping to find a home-away from home for my future visits to my daughter. But it’s not this place! The move itself is stressful but staying in a hotel that does not care about me or my family just makes it worse.

I stayed at this property from July 31 to August 3... rooms large enough with all amenities available but the third bed was practically a small and very uncomfortable sofa... basically my son was sleeping on the floor... the shower enclosure was in the tub, quite uncomfortable... breakfast very expensive at 15 pounds per person, we preferred to have it outside... the location quite good, a few hundred meters from the castle and the center.
