Booked the restaurant for a family get together for my brother-in-law’s birthday who lives in Canada and was on a cruise which called in at Edinburgh for the day so we took the opportunity so he could see the three bridges close up which he had never seen before, to book a meal at the hotel. Everyone was thrilled at the location of the restaurant and many photos were taken. The restaurant staff were excellent as was the food. However, our visit was marred when I received a parking ticket for the day we were there. There were no signs or barriers to say there was paid parking. To be honest we are disgusted that you have to pay for parking to go for a meal in the restaurant and not staying in the hotel overnight. At no time were we advised we had to pay for parking going for a meal in the confirmation booking or by the staff when we arrived in the restaurant and asked to put our car registration number into their system. We had stayed at the hotel overnight although not recently, and did not have to pay for parking. I wonder when this started? I have contacted the manager of the hotel on two occasions and not even had an acknowledgment email to say he had received it or about what action he is taking. I have also emailed the parking company with no response either. If I had been told beforehand there was paid parking I would have cancelled the booking as there is no way I think you should be paying when having a meal there. Disgusted! I would advise other people to be aware of this before or if they go, as we will certainly not be returning or any of friends and family.

Good business hotel about 30 minutes from the center of Edinburgh and 20 from the airport. Spacious and well-equipped rooms, some details should be taken better care of, especially in the bathrooms. Scenic view of the bridges. Good breakfast and dinner. Ample parking if necessary. A few steps from the bus stop to the center of Edinburgh. Courteous and professional staff.
