Travelodge Edinburgh Central Hotel

Great location - close to train station ect. Hotel had a chill atmosphere. Room was clean and the bed comfortable. Great value for money. We did late checkout which was really handy for flight times ect. Staff were lovely. I would stay again in the future.

Very friendly and supportive receptionists. We had a room with a view of Arthur’s Seat and (a little) sea. The sleep was nice and sound thanks to the quiet environment. Breakfast is good for value. Updated sockets with USB-A and USB-C. Second time staying in the same hotel.

Our experience here has been very bad. This is the first hotel I have ever been at where housekeepers don’t clean rooms, not even every few days. They have door hangers that say “Please top up” if you want your towels changed, coffee, etc., as long as the door hanger is out by 11:00 am. We had the door hanger out by 7:30 am and kept returning to the room thinking it would be cleaned, but it wasn’t. Finally, we returned again to the room about 3 pm and a housekeeper was just coming out of the room. To our surprise, they did no cleaning, just left some clean towels on our bed. The bed wasn’t even made. We have had other issues here as well. We arrived around 9 am and were told we’d need to wait until 3 pm to check in. They have nowhere to store luggage. Instead, you need to pay to store your luggage at a luggage shop nearby. If you ask for an early check in, they can give you one at noon, but it will cost you 20 Pounds. You have to pay 15 pounds for a week of very lousy internet for 2 devices, which you can’t change once you’ve assigned the devices. Ugh! There’s no air conditioning, just a little fan in the room. The list goes on. On a positive note, the hotel is in a very nice part of old Edinburgh, but it seems the hotel thinks a good location can make up for a lack of service and a hand in your pocket at every turn. I’ve heard of bad customer service, but this place actually has no customer service at all. Stay away.
