Valentine City Centre Guest House

The place is quiet q5 minutes walk from downtown. Cleanliness seemed good but I think the rooms are too small without a fridge and a very poor cabinet. No chance to communicate with the reception and I did not like the fact that sometimes it is unattended.... radiators that work badly and bubble bath so so...

We arrived and we were greeted by Monica, friendly and from the start already recommending rides. The spacious and nice room, the comidisima bed and pillows, the new and very nice bathroom and everything working perfect. The neighborhood super close to downtown and full of great bars and restaurants. A wonderful park 3 minutes away. If we returned to Edinburgh we would repeat! Thank you to all the Valentine staff!!! Edinburgh is a beautiful and safe city and the locals nice and friendly! Thank you!

We chose the Valentine City Centre Guest House based on its balance of price, quality, and proximity to the city centre and its attractions. While we didn’t have high expectations, unfortunately, we still found ourselves disappointed. Our room was on the 3rd floor with no lift, which was quite tiring—especially on vacation. The bed was uncomfortable, with a mattress so thin we could feel the wooden base beneath it. However, the most disappointing aspect was the cleanliness. The carpet in the room was dirty (evident from how quickly our white socks got soiled), and the bathroom wasn’t properly cleaned, with noticeable mould in the shower. Dust on the furniture and heaters further added to the unkempt feel. Additionally, despite staying for 10 nights, our sheets were never changed. While I didn’t expect daily changes, having them replaced at least once during our stay would have been appreciated. On the positive side, the staff at the front desk were always friendly, and the Christmas decorations added a warm, festive touch to the property. The location was excellent—very close to the city centre, with a bus stop right in front of the guest house, making it easy to get around. Overall, while the location and staff were highlights, the lack of cleanliness and comfort overshadowed our experience.
