Riverside Hotel Bed and Breakfast

Avoid the Riverside Hotel in Norwich at all costs, especially Room 4. We booked this for a weekend trip, but had to leave immediately after checking in due to the revolting, unsanitary state of the room. When we pulled back the bedsheets, we found multiple long human hairs and suspected pubic hairs. The mattress was so old and thin that when you sat on it you were basically sitting on the hard box underneath, the same with the one pillow each were thin and grubby. The rest of the room was completely filthy: thick dirt encrusted along the shower door sealant, degraded brown mold/sealant around the bath, a broken window blind, and no plug in the sink.I am clinically vulnerable with a serious medical condition, meaning an unhygienic room like this poses a direct threat to my health. When we showed reception the filth and asked to be moved, they simply told us they were fully booked and refused to help or offer a refund. We had to cancel our entire weekend plans and drive all the way home. They are currently trying to charge people up to £166 a night for what is essentially a health hazard. Do not trust the outdated score on booking.com or Google, look at the recent reviews here. Absolutely disgraceful business. Unfortunately the photos just don't show how horrible this room was, and I thought that I'd taken a video of every single hair in the bed as there were multiple.

Really small room. This was meant to be a superior double. Awful smell from toilet. We had to keep door shut. Bags of rubbish piled up outside.. but the worst thing was a rat on the stairs ! We vacated the property immediately. Nobody returned my phone calls or e mails and refused to refund my 4 night stay . Please don't stay at this place .

An awful awful place. I was a solo female visiting Norwich for the first time. I booked the guesthouse but was sent to a room in a building a couple of streets away. Tiny, an overwhelming stench, and everything just yuk. Cracked (not clean) sink and shower, water either scalding or freezing as shower mixer didn't work, toilet seat didn't fit, even the kettle base didn't match the kettle. For such a miniscule room it's amazing how much was dreadful. It's a remote check in, I didn't see anyone associated with the guesthouse. They didn't respond to my calls once I'd seen the horrible room in the stinking house. If I could give 0 stars I would. Avoid, avoid, avoid
