LADY ANNE MIDDLETONS

We booked a year in advance. Perfectly situated to the middle of York. Lovely building. Dirty, very dusty hair scrunchy found down side of bedside unit. Took to reception who was quite dismissive and said I will take a photo? Requested room to be serviced next day, no shower mat upon return, no sugar, milk or water replenished. Room nicely refurbished but tiny, no where to put suitcases or toiletries. Everything on the floor. No plug socket near mirror so hairdryer lead pulled across the door. Sewer smell emanating from bathroom, reception said I’ll put something down? Water cut off in the morning, no apology! Our room was on ground floor with table and deckchairs directly outside room so needed to be aware if light was on. Glasses and bottles still sitting out there from 6.30pm until gone 10pm when we returned. Breakfast was very strange, was sat in conservatory with upturned tables and hoover placed end of room, very unsightly. Scrambled eggs were more of an omelette. Had to walk through to main dining room and across to get to juices and water. Compote to have with cereals ran out by 9.15 and told no more. Yoghurt placed in a large bowl that everyone was scooping into, when replaced put into same scraped out bowl, yuk! I was still eating my fruit starter when main was served, he put it down and walked away not even noticing that I had not finished, hence main began to cool. I did receive a customer survey after our stay. I expressed my concerns and requested a response, nothing. I later emailed the hotel giving them an opportunity to discuss my concerns and said I would rather speak to them direct rather than putting on Trip Advisor, yet again no response.

The hotel is in a perfect location for visiting York without the need of a car. Interesting building full of history and parking was fine. Room was beautiful with everything you need including a lovely outlook overlooking a lawn with deck chairs which proved an ideal spot to relax after sightseeing. Staff were warm and friendly. The food we had was delicious - breakfast offered a great choice and was always hot. The menu offered something for everyone. We had tapas one of the nights we stayed and we now wish we had dined in the hotel the other nights we were there. We are already planning a return trip with family.

Really happy I found this place. They had a mix up at the beginning as I had asked for 2 separate beds but was given a double, however, they soon fixed the problem. Clean room and bathroom. They offer parking (which was important to me). Nice walk into York. I would defo use them again when I am next back.
