I’ll make this short and sweet. Terrible stay. In room 29. Issues noted we had about 5 sheets of toilet roll. No shower gel in shower dispenser. Large queues at reception every time I went. So just bought soap and toilet roll at Poundland on the Main Street. TV not working no Ariel. Went reception x4 to be told it doesn’t need an aerial. Eventually a night porter turned up to have a look. Guess what. It was because there was no Ariel one Acquired from another room. But the main issue was (see photos) son said bed was uncomfortable so I lifted it up to reveal this disgusting sight mine was similar but without the hair product. Went to reception they said it would be sorted. It wasn’t still there when we left. I regularly stay in the Adelphi in Liverpool which is a large old hotel too but always clean. You can make allowances for an old decaying building but this was just disgusting filth. I suppose it’s given us something to laugh about now we are home. But come on get your act together

Potential for it to be a fabulous building but it needs a lot of money spent on it (millions). The lobby area was ok and had a grand enough feel about it (albeit dated). Staff were fine but the room we were given was absolutely appalling. It was dirty with very suspicious marks on the walls and door frames - a range of what looked like bodily fluids. We didn't want to touch anything. Even the mug and spoon for tea/coffee had suspicious dirty marks on them. The bathroom bin smelt of feces and the floor in the bathroom was slippy - goodness knows what that was. Stains on the toilet seat too and what looked like it could be feces on the floor as well as years' worth of dirt in corners and mold on sealant . Dust on staircases. Stains on ceilings from leaks. Handles were missing off of furniture, beds were awful to sleep on with very poor mattresses. Could not guess at the last time it was decorated or the carpet was changed. Mess from seagulls everywhere. Overflowing bins outside the main entrance with rubbish on the path (attracting seagulls). A youth hostel would have been cleaner! I could not bring myself to take photos of the worst parts as it turned my stomach! To be charged £189 to stay for one night was a joke; especially when we booked in November of last year and then we overhead someone paying circa £65 for their room when they checked in next to us on Wednesday. Really really disappointing and an embarrassment to Britannia who should be ashamed of selling rooms at this price. GM's response to the review via Expedia was that they take cleanliness very seriously and the housekeeping team had been made aware. I do not believe cleanliness is taken seriously as there is no way the room would have been able to get into the state it is in.
