Thistle Middlesbrough

The room I stayed in wasn’t very well cleaned (see photos), and also in need of some renovation (again, see photos). Thankfully the bed was clean, but the rest of It was somewhat grubby, to be honest. I’m attaching the photos because I hope that seeing them will prompt the hotel management to have a word with the cleaning staff. My biggest issue was being unable to get a good night sleep, because I stayed in July and the room was clammy and hot at night. My room had no aircon (not even a thermostat), and while opening the window cooled things down, I then had to contend with noise from the city. The FAQ on the website promises that “each room has individually controlled climate settings for year-round comfort”, so that seems to be a falsehood for whatever reason. To give credit were it’s due, the ribeye steak from the restaurant was surprisingly good.

I checked in for 2 nights room only upgraded to bed and breakfast and added car parking thought everything was ok . On check out a additional charge was to pay of £135 the reception staff could not understand this had to call the manager to sought out so not a good experiance on check out also the sound proofing needs to be improved due to noise from the road. I will probabley look at alternatives in the future

I was very impressed with my executive bedroom. All staff I encountered were polite & friendly. However, the bathroom was absolutely shocking for a 4 star hotel . So grotty looking & basic I chose not to shower there. I also had an absolute mare trying to exchange my Leonardo Vouchers in the restaurant & am awaiting a response from them about this.
