Ashbourne House

This charming bed and breakfast is just across the river from the racetrack. Our room was spacious and the bathroom had an actual bathtub and even a bidet. Thoughtful touches throughout like Kleenex right next to the bed, a plug adapter available in the drawer, makeup mirror, and many more. Fiona is a gracious hostess and the made to order breakfast was delicious and hearty enough to last us to dinner. Great stay!

I had an enjoyable three night stay at Ashbourne House. Fiona was very welcoming and the whole place was well furnished and clean. My room and king size bed were very comfortable and the en-suite had an excellent shower. Breakfast was well cooked and a really good start to the day. Asbourne House is very well located for York city centre (the best route, in my opinion, is cutting across to the Millenium Bridge and following the River Ouze). I highly recommend Ashbourne House.

My 15-year-old daughter and I just stayed at Ashbourne House for a weekend getaway, and we cannot recommend it highly enough. From the moment we arrived, the owner, Fiona, gave us such a warm, genuine welcome and incredibly surprised us with a room upgrade right on the spot! We were put in a super king room that was beautifully modern, spotless, and incredibly spacious. The city centre is a short 20 minute walk alongside a picturesque river. After a long day of walking around York, the super comfortable bed was exactly what we needed. The breakfast setup is absolutely brilliant. There were loads of different options to choose from (which is always a bonus when travelling with a teenager!), and the Full English was genuinely 5-star quality. Fiona truly goes above and beyond as a host; she could not have been any more helpful or accommodating throughout our entire stay. If you're looking for a welcoming, comfortable, and flawlessly run guesthouse in York, this is the place to book. We will definitely be back!
