Wheatlands Lodge Hotel

Great location 10 minutes from railway station. Room was basic but was more than adequate. Place was clean and breakfast was super, food and tea hot 🔥 Staff were very friendly and helpful. Read a few reviews saying staff were rude and surly certainly not the case on our visit. But there again you just can't please some people,!! Would highly recommend, keep up the good work. Price and location were key to this booking and were not disappointed great VFM.

We've just returned from a 3 night stay at Wheatlands Lodge and honestly, it's easily one of the best places we've ever stayed in. We cannot believe it's only 3 star because it should be 4 at least. Here's all the good things: It's ideally situated within easy walking distance to the Micklegate entrance to York city centre. The hotel is spotless clean with a very comfy feel and the staff are amazing. So helpful and friendly. The rooms are immaculate and have everything you will need. There's a great bar at the hotel with a couple of really comfy lounges. We had breakfast and the evening meal each night during our stay and the food was outstanding. So tasty. The people who serve the food are really efficient and polite and the wait between courses is absolutely minimal. The dining room runs like a well-oiled machine. I would also like to thank the young lady on reception who allowed me to park my car outside one of the houses which was so helpful as one of us is a wheelchair user. We cannot wait to get back to The Wheatlands because it's marvellous. A huge thank you to all the fabulous staff.

Special thanks to Tanya who I spoke to on the 7th of August and who promptly rang me back an hour later when a room became available. The hotel is a excellent base for the centre of York but gets some negative reviews for minor gripes. If you can find a hotel with a bar that serves breakfast within beautiful grounds for the price you pay for here in york good luck to you.The young staff atmeal times do a excellent job but get criticism. I have just come home and there was a group from Loch lomond travel there and a couple of ladies complained that they had waited too long for their breakfast, show some patience the staff had a full room and us on the next table dont want to hear your conversation which was full of the F word.people complain on here about scaffolding being up, Don't look at it repairs and improvements are nessasary.
