Bridge House

This is the perfect place to stay if you are visiting the wall .Its got everything you need to make your stay comfortable and the hosts couldn't be more helpful . They even gave us a lift one morning and pointed out some ruins we would otherwise have missed . We had 2 rooms in the annexe and they were spotlessly clean , modern but with a country theme . We had easy access to the breakfast room which we used as a sitting area too as it was located between our bedrooms which was really handy . The views and garden were very pretty and we saw hedgehogs in the garden at night which is rare these days . Breakfast was plentiful and fresh and beautifully arranged . We bought packed lunch and there was a varied choice which made life easy . Without doubt the location was perfect with easy access to the wall , bus stop and pub which made life much easier . Do not hesitate to book this place it was fabulous.

Absolutely fantastic place to stay. Our host Ed couldn't have done anymore. So close to the Sycamore Gap and Vindolanda which is a must see. Ed helped plan our day. One of our most memorable nights accommodation with the Milecatstle Inn close by for evening meal and drinks. We will return. A huge thanks to Ed s and the family.

STAY HERE! What an amazing place. It's idyllic, situated very near the wall (10-min walk up to the remains of Milecastle 42), very near the bus route along the wall (3-min walk to the AD122 bus stop at Milecastle Inn), and very close to a delicious pub for dinner (Milecastle Inn). Bridge House provides a hearty, fresh breakfast featuring duck eggs from the property's ducks (hard boiled or in a lovely breakfast sandwich), overnight oats and yogurt with fresh fruit toppings (berries and rhubarb grown on site), toasts and jams, coffee tea, cereal, fresh milk...it's a dream! My accommodations were comfortable, cozy, and clean. If you can stay up late enough, the star gazing is amazing. The owners are absolutely lovely and dedicated to sustainability. You can catch a quoits match on the property on Wednesdays (or practice on Mondays) on your way across the street to the pub. Sheep and cows roam the grassy surrounding countryside. The views from up the hill near the wall are spectacular. I was not hiking; I stayed 3 nights at Bridge House to see the middle part of the wall for a research trip. I booked the "Middle of the Wall Package" which required a minimum 3-night stay. It included breakfast, a packed lunch to take with me each day (sandwich, chips, juice, fruit, and dessert), a £25 voucher each night to the Milecastle Inn for dinner (with a pint, a main course, and a dessert, I totaled £30-35 each evening), and car service to sites along the wall. Everything I needed, they provided. And they are really lovely people on top of it all! Nick even walked me down to see the last standing Roman milestone in Britain before my visit to Vindolanda. Everyone went above and beyond.
