Dilston Mill

Dilston Mill is in a good location beside the river and the garden is a good place to sit with a drink. Some of the garden furniture is unsafe and really ought to be removed. We were lucky to see dippers and a kingfisher. The most disappointing aspect of our stay was the breakfast. We were promised “… a welcome pack instead of daily breakfasts. It includes artisan style bread, butter, homemade marmalade and jam, milk, yogurt, biscuits, teas, coffees, fresh fruit and a treat.” For two people, for a 4 night stay, we were given a loaf, butter, small pots of jam and marmalade, a pot of yogurt, pint of milk and some fruit. The ‘treat’ was a packet of biscuits and a bar of chocolate. All the items appeared to have been purchased in the discounted supermarket Lidl. For the price I paid for the suite, this did not represent value for money.

We really enjoyed our stay in the studio. Susan was a great attentive host, the space is well kitted out, the garden by the river is amazing for breakfasts & evening conversations (glass of wine optional). It's a great spot to walk to Corbridge from. Overall 10/10. I'm coming back in September and can't wait.

My sister and I stayed in the private suite of the Mill for a couple of nights. We love Corbridge anyway but this was the icing on the cake. A unique and peaceful building, our suite was a lovely self-contained apartment, thoughtfully appointed with great attention to detail. A treat to come back to at the end of the day. The grounds are extensive and beautiful, bound by a very dramatic river. From here you can follow that river on a pleasant 30 minute walk into Corbridge, an otherwise 5 minute car journey. Our attentive host Susan was a mine of local information and ready to help if need be. We were loath to leave and look forward to a return visit sometime in the future.
