We were lucky to attend a family party at the Turks Head on Sunday, starting with drinks in the friendly bar, then a delicious Sunday lunch, highly recommend the roast beef, and then a very pleasant evening spent in the bar.The locals and staff are very friendly and welcoming, the bedroom and en-suite were large, very clean and the bed extremely comfortable. The breakfast was cooked to order and again delicious. Highly recommend this charming hotel in the lovely Northumbrian village of Rothbury.

A last minute booking at the weekend and grateful the team could fit us in .Food and service was very good ..what I dont understand is why so many pubs/restaurants (3 we visited in Rothbury) have been taken over by dogs.Dogs on chairs in a restaurat ,one dog on a table ,one entitled dog owner (with 3 dogs) giving their left overs to their dog ...yes I understand the plate will be washed but really .! and the restaurant just smelled of dogs . Maybe we need people only places in pubs now .

We have stayed here many times over the years and has always been very good so we thought for our 40 wedding anniversary we would go back, the room was so cold went to ask staff if they had a portable heater we could have was told they didn’t have one it was half past five and heating had not come on, the 20th was when there was snow and very cold .we went down to have dinner which was great asked another member of staff for heater he went off came back and said no,went back to room still cold my wife had pyjamas on and fleece jacket in bed she is 83 got up had breakfast which was good and then we left, it should have been a nice three day break but instead was one night. Have had no response from Turks head very disappointed.
