White Swan Hotel

We stayed one night here on a b&b with a 2 course dinner, breakfast was buffet with lots of choices as well as cooked breakfast, with menu for dinner, staff were very friendly, The room was a bit dated but clean and warm the dinning room is amazing a real insight to what the titanic must been

We found our stay at the White Swan Hotel very disappointing. The first room we were given was dirty. I went to reception & said we couldn't possibly stay in that room. The lovely receptionist found us another room, The Bamburgh Suite, which was huge & looked better. After accepting the room we found issues that weren't pleasant to the eye. We decided to stay as we'd travelled almost 4 hours to get there. The photos on line do not match the actual rooms we were offered. The sample menu on line is nothing like the menu offered for evening meal. We decided to eat out on both our nights there. I feel this is false advertising. I took photos of my findings & sent these to Country Hotel Breaks head office, as requested, after id had a telephone call from them. We did go down for breakfast, the dining room is beautiful but the breakfast was just OK, but not hot. Iv just had a reply from The White Swan manager who, because I'd accepted the 2nd room, didn't feel I was worthy of any compensation. I would not return to the White Swan & certainly would not recommend to anyone.

Ok Staff were lovely. Breakfast lovely Our room (no4) was dire... The furniture was very dated The kettle had water in it and limescale in .it The floor to the bathroom was a different level so had a ramp! The bed was hard. Very thin mattress The TV had to be switched off at the wall Outside the window was a carpark! So no privacy.
