Good location, friendly staff but room for improvement. Carpet in corridor covered in bits and needed a good vacuum. Bathrooms looking a little bit tired .

We stayed for 2 nights in a Premier Plus room
From the outside the hotel looks impressive from across Maid Marion Way but get closer and the cracks begin to show
The entrance is up a step or 2 – very small reception – 2 check-in kiosks – and the smallest reception desk I have ever seen in a Premier Inn – according to the kiosk our room wasn’t ready – but help was at hand and after a manual check-in we were on our way to our room – thank you
2 lifts – glass back – giving views to the square and road outside as well as the many layers of dust that has accumulated on the steel supporting structure
As usual Premier+ rooms have a separate corridor and so did ours – keyed entry – noticeable that the carpets in the corridor had interesting stains as if someone had been throwing bleach on them a la Jackson Pollock
Our room was a Premier+ conversion – shower over bath – needed to high hurdle to get in – large comfy bed – but my wife contends that Silentnight is not as good as Hypnos – decent TV – fridge – new air conditioning controls – fully operational – but the evidence of a fan appeared to suggest there had been problems – room quiet and dark at night – and for once there was a separate shampoo and body wash rather than 2 body washes that appears to be the recent norm – view towards theatre and church/cathedral – the room was clean and everything well stocked
The negatives - windows in the room so dirty they almost distorted the view out – the carpet appeared to have been subjected to the same treatment as the corridor – the coffee maker was changed but as with the first one it leaked over the desk
Ate breakfast – Bar + Bloc - again adequate – not overly busy when went around 8 in the morning
When I booked the suggestion was to park at the nearby NCP which we did – turned out to be a relatively short walk away – with wide bays – and that there would be a discount for PI customers – when we arrived we were told that PI no longer had an arrangement with NCP but with Q-Park – and that the NCP discount would not apply – this change had only happened in the last few days before our arrival – we were given a previous code for NCP car park as it was suggested they still honour the previous arrangement which luckily for us they did – thank you
The hotel is well located – within easy walking distance of the City Centre – surrounded by good restaurants – we ate at Brown’s and Casa – both very good – and the Nottingham Playhouse is literally across the road
However there is evidence that this is a tired hotel that is in need of some TLC – but its saving grace are the staff who are exceptional in the way they look after all their guests – thank you
