Our 3rd visit to Heythrop and another wonderful stay.
Room, staff, facilities, evening entertainment and food all really good.
Unfortunately the food in the Market Kitchen was not as good as previous visits but the other 2 restaurants were brilliant.
I am in a wheelchair and the room (607) was great, easy to get around with plenty of space.
Will definitely be back.

Lovely location, room was spacious, modern & well equipped. The walk from the car park to the South Wing Reception was quite long. The food (both breakfast & evening meal) was disappointing & the menu was based on 'pub grub' but, not as well presented. Restaurants appeared to be short staffed & they looked like they were under pressure.

So the first thing to say is the staff are mostly great and it is not their fault.
Start with a positive, we had a room in the south wing and it was huge and very clean (room 1) only thing I would say was no bathrobes or slippers and the coffee was basic,
We went to the bar area outside pub and ordered a bottle of wine on the app - this came extremely quick but unfortunately was not cold and we needed to add ice.
We are vegetarian and did put this on our booking. The first night we ate in the Kitchen Garden…..this was disgusting and probably the worst hotel food we have ever had.
When we asked the waitress what there was (as reception had told us they would make things) she said soup and cabbage……I kid you not!!!
We had the garlic mushrooms for starter and to be fair these were ok but clearly microwaved. Buffet wise……well we had a table at 8.15 and they were clearing the salads away. Cauliflower cheese was tasteless and the roast potatoes hard and carrots cold…..yes this was the offering. Had ice cream for dessert and this too was not worth the calories. We enjoyed a nice bottle of Pinot Grigio which was refunded when we complained about the food.
We spoke with the manager who was very apologetic- but we stated we would be leaving the next day as it all felt so “old people home like”
Went for cocktails but they did not have the ingredients for ones on the menu so we went to bed.
Breakfast was delicious we had the vegetarian breakfast - if only we could have this at each meal.
Did a walk after breakfast to see the site - the hotel is stunning (expect the prison block feel of the new building) and the grounds lovely to walk in.
We are in our 50s and seriously must have been the youngest by about 20 years - everyone was sooooo old - think they need to be clearer in the advertising- most people were definitely 70 and over.
Still waiting to see if money will be refunded
For the second night as we left early - just felt too much like a care home and the food was disgusting.
Please believe the poor reviews as they are true
