The Kings Arms

We found alternative accommodation. The host was lovely but the room and facilities were appalling. The room was filthy. The bed had stains and looked dirty. The room was on a tilt which I know is an old building but everywhere definitely needs upgrading and fixing. The shower was falling apart and the floor was grubby. A building site out back due to a fire last July and as a result no parking and due to this no food available as the kitchen was closed.

Sadly we did not enjoy our say. Stayed here for one night whilst visiting Diddly Squat farm. From the outside the pub looks lovely. When inside we were a little early for checking in so we ordered a couple of drinks at the bar. The lady behind the bar who served us seemed nice and friendly. Behind the bar the refrigerator was completely empty. The spirit bottles on shelf looked empty. It gave the impression of somewhere closing down. The decor was very worn. So wasn’t looking forward to going up to room. When we entered the room the light switch on wall did not work, but found a pull cord. There was an extension socket with wires showing in middle of floor beside the bed. This was a hazard. The bedding and towels were nice and clean. However, the divan beds were badly stained around the sides. They should at least have a fitted valance on to cover/hide this. I could not bring myself to check under mattress cover or check pillows. The mattress was so soft and worn there were dents in it. The tv signal was not good and kept going off and freezing. We could not close one of the sash windows so the rain came in overnight. When booking it was probably the cheapest hotel. But still this room needs some attention. Sad to have to write this as the hotel and reviews online looked good 🙁

Threadbare carpet...had to move one single bed against the other as mattresses dangerously bouncy...discovered carpet underneath covered in thick dust, crumbs and sweets. Moved bedside table out a couple of inches looking for a plug...to find socket hanging off of wall. Big clean bathroom though...were very tempted to drag mattresses in there....but too scared to view mattress close up. A very uncomfortable night.
