Vanbrugh House Hotel

When we arrived on Sat I specifically asked about the construction renovation of the attached building of hotel. The manager said the construction had been ongoing for 2 years but no recent activity. It’s now Mon at 7am and vibration and extreme noise. Extremely disappointed that nothing was mentioned in reviews. Also, the quality of rooms is misrepresented by Hotel on Expedia. This is the first time I have ever been misled about a property especially when majority of posted reviews this summer were 10/10 with the 6/10 summer reviews being more accurate and buried

Beautiful historic hotel, ideally located, comfortable room, nice welcoming and excellent breakfast. We were unable to sleep because of the heat. Maybe an air-conditioning should be installed by next summer to grant a good night rest.

This hotel is a real scam, run away!! Catastrophic welcome by a lady who was completely panicked and overwhelmed, and who seems to be the only staff member in the entire hotel. There is no one to carry luggage upon arrival and no elevator. The photos are misleading: the "superior" room is tiny, aging, and very poorly insulated; the doors and joints are in a deplorable state and crudely patched up. The room's "garden" is left abandoned and is not cleaned; there was still a package of cookies and belongings from the previous guest on the chairs. No air conditioning in the rooms at 95 degrees during a heatwave; it is unacceptable!!! They just offer you a poor little fan that makes a monstrous noise. No ceiling light. The Wi-Fi does not work despite our repeated requests. Electrical system from another era; we did not manage to get some lights and outlets to work, it feels like a prank. Very important point: we do not feel safe. No real luggage storage room, suitcases are left unattended at the front desk. When we turned on the television, the previous guest's YouTube account was still logged into the device, so they absolutely do not ensure that your privacy is respected… In short, don't waste your money, it's a scam. The only advantage: the very central location (thank goodness). In my opinion, this is probably why the hotel continues to operate, and the reason why the owners make no effort on the rest. This is clearly not a 4-star hotel.
