Ballathie Sportsmans Lodge

We were visitors from Canada touring the highlands and looked at this online looked really charming, to our horror arrived at door and gutters were full of weeds etc, a large bin for rubbish was situated at front door, on opening door a very musty smell , old worn chairs and a sofa that had seen better days and looked smelly , bed we never went near as looked old and grubby , we were so hungry we went to the main house for supper and I must say the decor and furnishing were superb , supper was lovely till my wife got her main dish, pork, which had a hair in it! Our sweet dishes were wrong but we never complained as we felt uncomfortable. Got back to room and could not face staying in that place, so packed and left. So all in all costly mistake.

This was supposed to be a 'lodge' but it was more like one of the pontins chalets, a row of four portacabin like structures. The furniture was dated, carpets needed cleaning, there were cobwebs by the dressing table and the corner of the bed was broken.

I would love to review Ballathie House, I booked two garden rooms 6 months ago, 4 nights before I was die to arrive , was a night away for part of my 50th birthday, they called to say , sorry wedding on, so you can't get dinner or use of bar, hope that's okay ? No sorry, no reduction for lack of facilities, offer of taxi to eat elsewhere !! Not handy when 2 dogs with us and reason booked was so dogs could be with us in bar etc after a day out touring area. Not impressed !! Won't ever book there again as wouldn't risk being let down, not professional
