The Angus Hotel

Yet another amazing two night stay at The Angus. Couldn't fault a thing. Staff are all so friendly and nothing is too much bother. The food in the restaurant and breakfast are lovely, tribute nights are great and the hotel has a lovely atmosphere. Definitely be back again

Lovely location, absolute fantastic spa! Best jacuzzi and steam room ever! Meal lovely but think staff were overwhelmed as a tribute night on do service a bit slow. Same at breakfast as massive queue waiting for plates and fresh food and trays when reception could have had us select booked times to give them time to prepare rather than a disorderly free for all.

Excellent location to explore the surrounding areas. Situated in town centre, so handy for all local amenities. Large hotel, so atmosphere was always good in lounge bar and restaurant. Room let our stay down. The room itself and particularly the bathroom were badly needing refreshed. Some tlc badly needed eg fixing the grout, wiping marks off doors and skirtings etc would make a massive difference. Room wasn't made up by housekeeping the second day - had to ask reception for more tea/coffee sachets. Good heater in room and towel radiator in bathroom nice and warm. Unfortunately there was always a strong smell in the room - whether there was a blocked drain somewhere or it was coming from the stained carpet I don't know! Breakfast was fine. Usual cereals, fruit, yoghurt, cold meat and cheese. Had to ask if there were any vegetarian options eg sausages. They took 10 mins to arrive and came on a cold plate. We had all finished the rest of our breakfast before they came. Perhaps let residents know at the start they are available and have to be ordered, or have a sign somewhere so they could be on order before plating up the rest of our hot breakfast items. We got a good deal as we booked a Tribute night package, so thought it was good value for bed and breakfast with entertainment both nights. Could hear the entertainment from our first floor bedroom, but it stopped around midnight. Room faced the main road, but double glazing kept any road noise out. Staff were all really pleasant, mostly young. Bit of difficulty with the language with a couple of members of staff who didn't have English as their first language. Use of the swimming pool and spa was included in the price - we didn't use it but it seemed popular. Car parking was free as we had booked directly with the hotel. Enjoyed our weekend away here at the Angus Hotel despite some niggly but easily sorted problems.
