The Kenmore Club

We have just returned from a wonderful holiday at the Kenmore Club. It did help that the weather was fantastic. We were met on arrival by helpful pleasant staff and Janice is exceptional. We were told 1 of the shower rooms were out of order and offered another apartment but it had a smaller balcony so we refused. We managed fine as upstairs and downstairs toilet facilities were available. The apartment was specious and extremely clean. The large balcony was used for all meals. The beds were comfortable even the pull down one in the lounge. We loved the warm indoor pool and used it daily. The restaurant provided a nice meal out for the family with a varied menu. The views of the surrounding countryside were idyllic and we returned home to look for a suitable date to return again. Only downside is the apartments are a little tired and need refreshed but that in no way detracted from our enjoyment.

Our experience at the Kenmore Club was extremely disappointing and resulted in our holiday ending almost as soon as it began. When we arrived at the property, House no. 40. We were immediately hit by an overpowering smell of damp and mould. After investigating, it appeared that the boiler had been leaking for a considerable time. There was extensive black mould around the area and, most concerning of all, electrical boxes were situated on a wet floor beneath the leak. Based on what we saw, we believed this presented a serious health and safety risk, and we did not feel the accommodation was safe to stay in. We reported our concerns immediately, but the response from the manager was completely dismissive. We were effectively told to "deal with it or leave." There was no empathy, no meaningful attempt to resolve the situation, and no suitable alternative offered. This was particularly upsetting because we had travelled two hours with our autistic children, only to have to explain to them shortly after arriving that our holiday was over and we had to make the journey back home. To add insult to injury, we had already been charged an additional £20 simply for entering the property around 45 minutes before the official check-in time. We will be taking this matter further through the appropriate channels, as we believe our concerns warrant a full investigation. Based on our experience, I would strongly encourage anyone considering booking the Kenmore Club to think very carefully before doing so. We did not feel the accommodation was safe to occupy, and the way our concerns were handled was as disappointing as the condition of the property itself. This was supposed to be a family holiday, but instead it became a stressful and upsetting experience that could and should have been avoided.

We did not feel so welcome at this hotel compared to the others on our 3 plus week visit. Although it sits at a nice location our first impression at check in was not great. We arrived at 2:30 and were told our room was ready with the caveat that it would be 20 British Pounds if we wanted entry before a very late check in time of 4pm. Another staff member overheard the conversation and suggested they just let us in instead of making us wait until 4pm. We were then told that if we wanted to use the pool we would need to schedule it as they only allow 15 people at a time and it is in high demand. We took a look at the pool and it was locked and closed with no patrons. We were also told that towels at the pool would be provided for 2 pound per person. On our 3rd day a man with a master key opened our front door without knocking and stated he thought we checked out. The apartment bed was very comfortable and the apartments have basic furniture. The place worked for our needs but I wouldn’t plan on returning.
