It’s Gleneagles so you expect it to be beautiful, luxurious and efficient, and it was all those things. What we were unprepared for however, was the real warmth of the staff who seem to genuinely want to make your stay special. From the moment of arrival to the moment of departure every single employee made us feel like our enjoyment was the most important thing in their day. I think it reflects very well that everyone we spoke to said they loved working there and that really showed in their approach to guests. To be honest, I sometimes question whether expensive hotels are worth the money; be assured Gleneagles most certainly is!

Gleneagles is a beautiful resort. The staff there is so helpful and very friendly. All of their restaurants served great food. We especially liked the Birnam, more casual than the Strathearn. The Strathearn is prix fixe dining and it takes a long time for all the courses. The interiors of the hotel are gorgeous. We took the Highland Cow Safari and thoroughly enjoyed it. Definitely recommend doing that. The golf was fun as well. Drummond Castle Gardens are a short drive and worth it.

Best all around experience of any place we have stayed in our extensive global travel history. The beauty of this place cannot be captured in words. The facilities, the grounds, the extensive menu of experiences are all outstanding, but what makes this place unique is the friendliness and helpfulness of every staff member on property. I had the opportunity to play golf on the King’s and Queen’s and the PGA Centenary courses; all were excellent. We only stayed 4 days, but were also able to drive the Agrocat, shoot clays, train falcons, learn fly fishing (and catch 2 large rainbow trout which the chef prepared for us for dinner), play croquet, sample some whiskey, eat a lovely buffet breakfast every morning and eat dinner in a different on property restaurant every night. The Andrew Fairlie degustation menu with wine pairing was more than worthy of the two Michelin stars. There are so many more activities and experiences we did not have time to do, so we will just have to return to Gleneagles some day soon.
