This place is a rip off and a complete dump. The rip off is that they say on Booking.com that they are "pet friendly", make you pay up front (which is non refundable) and then [try to] charge a 50% surcharge for the pet (being £50 on a £100 room charge. If you have a pet do not stay here. Further the staff are impolite and try to add additional charges without consent. All of this verifiable. Do not stay here. Stay anywhere else.

We have stayed in the Green Hotel on numerous occasion in the past & really enjoyed our visits. The hotel has now been taken over by Ramada, & what a disappointment! The receptionist was casual & not especially friendly. We asked for a downstairs room but were told that there wasn’t one available. The is no lift, & the stairs are steep. Difficult for my husband to carry 2 cases, no offer of help. The bedroom was a good size, newly decorated but bland, like a cheap travelodge. There wasn’t one shabby straight backed chair. The floor was not carpeted, but under the bed stretching to both sides was a shiny, maybe nylon mat. Very slippy. I think a hazard especially for the elderly or children. The shower was in a high sided bath. I had to stand on my case to get into the bath! The room was spotlessly clean, & had a nice outlook. Breakfast was tasty with a good variety of food, & very pleasant staff. The bar food was fine, & again the staff were friendly. As we were leaving the receptionist admitted that all the down stairs room were being decorated. The comments I have made have been pointed out by other people & obviously ignored. Sadly we will never return to the Green Hotel.

This was a purpose built coaching inn. The arrival of steam trains impacted many such inns but this has been remodelled many time. I first came here on a family holiday more than 40 years ago. It has a decent public bar. The interior is a mix of styles. In truth it is dated and the exterior in places is rather shabby. If it is to exist in another ten years it’ll need some investment. It is iconic for Kinross so let’s hope it happens.
