Small double room with a full-size bed, poor cleaning and maintenance. Bathroom without a shaver outlet. Very old furnishings. Quality and variety of breakfast: barely sufficient. Smell of old carpet.

We spent one night at the Salutation. It was fine but not particularly memorable. The rooms are small. We reserved two rooms, each with twin beds. We had 103 and 203. In 203, there was no WiFi signal. Not the end of the world but in this day and age it was annoying. The lobby bar was nice enough but it was weird that the TV available for World Cup viewing was very small. And they didn't have a Scottish lager on tap! I liked the breakfast--great selection of food. Eggs, haggis, blood pudding, bacon, cereal, fruit. Monika was the host and she is a great ambassador! The rooms have actual room keys. They are like skeleton keys. You should keep it in the lock at night. As for Perth, it's quite sleepy. Kind of sad, really. Hard to find a restaurant open on a Monday night...

Firstly the hotel is old and that’s part of its charm, the staff were efficient & friendly. We would have liked an explanation of getting around the hotel as it is a bit of a rabbit warren, that together with the lift being broke (since March) was not easy to navigate. Maybe we should have asked, however we were just given our key and room number. The bar staff were friendly and the atmosphere was warm & convivial. The food was lush and breakfast staff again were efficient and attentive. Communal areas are tired but clean. Our room 321 was clean but really quite tired, the mold on the tile grouting was very apparent. The radiator could deffo do with a refurb as it was vey scuffed with paint missing. And please pull the beds out to vacuum. Paint work in bedroom & bathroom had seen better days. This did not spoil our stay and we only paid £102 per night we would probably stay again as it is an efficient no fuss hotel. The no lift situation is unacceptable I feel.
