Joy and her farm does have a lot going for it, but not for over £100 a night. The facilities are tiny and cramped (shower/toilet) the place needs a damn good clean, (cob webs and dust all around the room) and it's a 10-15 minutes drive through tight country lanes to get anywhere for dinner. Now, none of these things make this a bad place to stay, not at all in fact. But staying here should be £50 a night at the most. For £80/night you can get a three star hotel with pool/Jacuzzi/sauna and a great restaurant about a 20 minute drive away! (Nant Du)

Lovely little cottage in the black hills of Wales. Great scenery and quiet. Small kitchen and living room but double bed sized bedroom with a massive wet room. Owner is very friendly and accommodating. ..reasonably priced so nice we go back every May.

Me and my partner stayed for a long weekend in April 2015, I had planned on staying in the self catering cottage, however this was booked for the first night and therefore we split our stay between the main house and the cottage(both were lovely!). The location was beautiful, all you can hear are the chickens and the sheep. We had everything we needed and for a small extra cost Joy made us a packed lunch to take with us on our walk up Pen y Fan. Joy is extremely friendly and couldn't have been a better host. I have already booked another long weekend at Maeswalter in February 2016 and can't wait!
