I've previously worked in several hotels , so had high hopes for this beautiful location , and this is after 3 visits . We are reasonably local and have only visited for food ,and drinks not the hotel , so I cannot comment . Twice to the Tavern, and once to the hotel side . The location is beautiful , stunning in fact , and the hotel staff were helpful particularly when we dined at height of summer (Aug ) a small group of us , when they were rather busy in the hotel , and sat on the balcony , we were lucky I think as several tables were complaining about delayed food and drinks . The hotel area (as the Tavern was closed ) was nice , needs a lick of paint on the balcony , but hotel reception looked nice . Today we visited the Tavern again , the toilets are dated and need a good scrub doors are black with dirt around doors , the ashtrays were full of water (it wasn't raining ) and cigarettes ends , and bins were over flowing outside ,. Its such a shame as its a gem of a property with the most perfect views. The hotel needs investment ,cleaning and perhaps a bit of staff training to clean up whilst working . I will return and hope to see improvement , as I love the area .

We’ve just returned from a 3 night stay with our dog, Lola. We were bowled over by the location and the stunning view of the lake, absolutely beautiful! The staff just couldn’t do enough for us, they were so friendly and accommodating. We had breakfast and dinner at the hotel and found the food exceptional. My husband enjoyed Clay Pigeon Shooting with the instructor Stuart who was just great. The walks around the hotel/in the area are spectacular! We look forward to returning… The only disappointing aspect was that we couldn’t take Lola down to dinner/ breakfast with us, she was only allowed in The Tavern (which isn’t open that often) As there were quite few dog owners/lovers staying, it’d be great if there was an area allocated for guests and their dogs when dining/enjoying a drink in the hotel.

It states on the website it’s pet friendly. If you adore your fur baby as we do DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!! The only place the dog is allowed is your room you can’t dine or sit in any area in the hotel. We had to sit in our room with a tray on our bed to eat our evening meal. I totally accept that not everyone likes dogs but please DO NOT advertise your hotel pet friendly when clearly YOU ARE NOT!!!!!
