We came here just after 8.30 on a Thursday evening but were told that service was finished despite the sign outside saying it ended at 9pm. We therefore went to the Italian restaurant just up the street for dinner. The next morning we went into the hotel to speak to the manager about our experience the previous evening and he told us the pub was closing shortly and that they were unable to access the website. We decided to stay for breakfast and enjoyed coffee and fruit juice, cereals and toast plus a Full English for me which was very good indeed. The manager told us the place was closing for three years for complete renovation and had been acquired by the company behind the Newt group of hotels. Enjoy it while you can!

Fabulous Sunday lunch here at The George! It was a filthy day weather wise & we were fortunate enough to get a table for Sunday lunch. The service from the staff was excellent & very friendly waitresses ensured that we were well looked after. The roast dinners were delicious and amongst the very best that we have come across. We enjoyed it very much and will no doubt return again very soon.

Fantastic meal and family gathering for myself and my cousins 60th. The function room was great that we had and the roast dinners were amazing. The service was quick, the food hot and very generous portions. The vegetable wellington was really tasty. The staff were lovely and came in with extra gravy and sauces keeping us topped up. Definitely will visit again when in Castle Cary. Thank you for making our birthdays so special.
