Best Western The Connaught

I had the honour of being part of Kelly and Steve’s wedding party and giving my best friend, Kelly, away on 4th July 2026. I also stayed at the Connaught Hotel & Spa for two nights with the wedding party, so I saw first-hand just how hard everyone worked. All of the staff were excellent, friendly and professional throughout our stay, but Kevin especially stood out. From helping to coordinate the ceremony and reception, arranging tables, involving us in decisions and offering choices, nothing was ever too much trouble for him. Kevin was there for well over 12 hours on the wedding day, always with a smile and ensuring everything ran smoothly. He genuinely cared about making sure Kelly and Steve had the perfect day and that all the guests felt relaxed and looked after. As there was no professional photographer, guests were uploading photos to a QR code throughout the day. Kevin went above and beyond by taking his own photos and videos and adding them to the collection. They were absolutely wonderful and captured so many special moments that may otherwise have been missed. Kevin gave far more than was expected of him and his kindness, professionalism and attention to detail made a huge difference to the day. He is a real credit to the Connaught Hotel & Spa and deserves recognition for the outstanding service he provided. Thank you, Kevin, for helping to make such precious memories for Kelly and Steve.

Stayed here for 2 nights in mid June. The hotel itself was pleasant staff efficient. However our room was in the lodge the building next door. As we walked into this building there was a terrible smell which had us retching! Wd did report this to reception but had no comeback This smell continued for our whole visit. . The room was adequate as we were only sleeping in it but it wasn’t especially clean. The carpet was dirty and I kept my shoes on as I didn’t fancy it barefoot. I also killed a few carpet moths which would suggest inadequate vacuuming! Beds comfy bathroom clean. We had breakfast each morning. Good variety but not very nice gluten free bread and no means of toasting it without contamination on the same toaster as bread with gluten. We had evening meal both nights in the hotel. Food was very good but we waited an hour or so for our one course meal and there were very few people in the restaurant. Comfy seating and space in the hotel. I used the swimming pool and sauna but the jacuzzi was out of action the whole time we were there.. Pool was pleasant and towels provided. I would revisit but would not want to slept in the lodge ever again The difference between the two buildings was huge. Nice situation for town and cliff walk with car parking

Returned home yesterday after a wonderful weekend at the connaught for my daughter's wedding. From start to finish the connaught surpassed everything we could ever have hoped for. From planning the wedding with Maria, to the actual wedding day itself the service was first class. On arrival at the connaught the day before the wedding, the lovely Kevin who is a true gent was waiting to greet us. Our beautiful rooms were ready for us & were spotless. We later decided to have an impromptu meal in the brasserie & were impressed that Staff had a table for all 10 of us ready within minutes, the food in the brasserie was delicious. The lovely Tom was there much of the weekend & helped to make the weekend what it was. He is professional, funny, courteous and a huge asset to the connaught. On the big day itself fresh croissants/ toast/ fruit etc was bought up to our room along with pots of tea & coffee. We had the peace of mind knowing that our rocks kevin & Tom were quietly available in the background all morning, ready to help at the drop of a hat. When it came to the actual ceremony time, was when the connaught really worked their magic. They turned a rainy miserable day effortlessly around into a fabulous indoor wedding. A beautiful set up was arranged in a room for the photos, & we can honestly say that the horrible weather did not affect the big day. Everyone said they had a wonderful time & so many commented on the fabulous service & lovely Staff. I would recommend the connaught to anyone. They still have that quality which so many other hotels fail on nowadays, and that is the personal touch. Everyone at the connaught including those behind the scenes made our families weekend one of the best ever. I felt so looked after by everyone and they made my beautiful daughter sophie the bride feel like a Queen.
