Enjoyable stopover during a work trip. Room was large and clean with a modern shower room. Staff were very friendly and breakfast tasty, would happily stay again if in the area

More like a guesthouse than an hotel. No night staff unless you count a night porter who doesn't like being disturbed by a guest who's card-key won't open his room. After I'd spent the night on the lobby area floor this rude, unsympathetic man told me, in no uncertain terms, that everyone knows you shouldn't keep the card-key near your cellphone. Everyone? No one I met. Perhaps they have a cheap, inferior system. It's never happened to me in any other hotel. I'll never stay there again.

We had our wedding, ceremony and reception at the shrubbery hotel. And we cannot praise the staff the hotel and Anne the wedding coordinator highly enough. Nothing was too much trouble from the booking to the meetings to the day itself. All our guests said it was the best wedding they had ever been to. The hotel, the rooms, the food and drinks packages and the little extras made our day perfect in every way. We wanted to marry outside but unfortunately the weather didn’t allow it but it was handled calmly and professionally and the staff transformed the ballroom into the most perfect space. Anne was a pleasure to deal with, so friendly enthusiastic and professional, I felt relaxed and at ease from the get go! I even joked that if I was to marry again I would definitely be using the shrubbery! Thank you to all the staff for making our day and our guests experience first class.
