The White Hart Hotel

A great Gem of a Pub/hotel to find. We called in to discover a very friendly customer welcome by the ladies behind the bar. A great atmosphere and an exceptionally high Untapped selection of Beers,Ciders and Lagers to choose from. Great choice of spirits and Entertainment too.

This was a very charming pub with a great room which was ideal for us. The White Hart is a charming pub right in the centre of town, making it perfectly located for exploring. I reserved the Double Cabin Room (Room 5) which specifically states it is a small room - this was fine for me because we only wanted somewhere to sleep after a wedding! But I later saw one of the pictures online showed what is clearly a single bed - even though the listing states a double. I phoned up and a very helpful chap called Joe said they could make sure a double bed was in the room when we got there. When we arrived I was relieved to see that there was indeed a very lovely and very comfortable double bed! I don't know if they did actually change the bed (which seems like a lot of faff) or if this is how the room always is - either way, don't be put off if you see the single bed in the picture (I suggest they change this image asap!) Some people might say the room is a little tired or old, but you should expect that in a proper old pub (and for the very reasonable price!) There was a generous supply of tea and coffee and also toiletries, which was great (and necessary!) Our room was at the back so we heard no noise at all and had a nice breeze to keep cool and a fan was provided. All the staff with whom I interacted were friendly, professional, and helpful. As others say, there is no parking at the pub but plenty of reasonably-priced all day and night parking around the town. Only suggestions for the Inn would be: 1. make sure the inline images are accurate as seeing a single bed could put some people off; and 2. consider a blackout blind for the skylight in room 5 as bright early sunshine could disturb some light sleepers.

Room rather small and certainly in need of improvement in cleanliness and regular maintenance. Towel change and room cleaning not performed. Breakfast minimal buffet, but the hot dish prepared on the spot was good instead. One evening we dined at their pub and I must say we ate well.
