Park Inn Rotherham

Second time I have stayed in this hotel. Our Group in five rooms had excellent stay. Clean nice spacious rooms and lobby. From Reception to Breakfast staff. Room maintenance were warm welcome staff . Always going out of way to make our stay comfortable. Management you have lovely team. One suggestion is breakfast to include more vegetables and vegetarian options.

Very good value, wonderful staff, cracking breakfast, quiet air con, good bed great pillows, clean & tidy, efficient & friendly service, best night's sleep in a while. Aldi opposite for picnics/travel snacks, beautiful Manvers Lake & the Trans Pennine Way on the doorstep (easy enough for disabled cyclist) RSPB Old Moor bird reserve nearby (mobility scooters provided) nature, outdoor pursuits (for all abilities) buckets of culture/entertainment for days/nights out. (Yorks sculpture park (scooters too), Parkway Cinema Barnsley, poetry at Flux Rotherham, & a day at Wentworth Woodhouse - the gardens only partly accessible but a great day out). Local town centres each have their own characters and plenty of evening entertainment, but I prefer Barnsley for accessibility and parking.

Location was fine. When driving up to the hotel I did worry as you see the back of the hotel with all the messy curtains and stains on the windows, but the front of the building looked better. I think all of the money is being spent on the foyer which looked quite nice. Rooms were a good size, very dark though and hardly any light. The bathroom was a good size but it smelt really bad - think the drains/toilet were just picking up the whole hotel's waste smell. Everything was quite shoddy, the stainless in the bathroom was all rusted. The toilet seat chipped. Worst of all there were curly hairs on the shower gels that they supply - luckily I always bring my own. It was tidy but I wouldnt say clean. Noise levels were quite noisy and I could hear everyone running around not sure if it was above or below, lots of slamming of doors and kids. For breakfast they did have an excellent supply of food although the 'hot' food was tepid at the most. A small eating area and I think the staff could have cleared a bit quicker then they were due to the size of the area and the amount of guests, plus no one swept up under neath the tables therefore there was scrmbled egg all over the floor on both days. It wouldnt take much to just sort. The Staff were very friendly and they supplied and iron and ironing board. All in all, we stopped here for convenience and expected something a lot better especially as its a Holiday Inn but will definitely have to rethink this name in future.
