BEST WSTRN MOSBOROUGH HALL HTL-SHEFFIELD

We had a fantastic weekend at Mosborough Hall, everything we needed was catered for. Lovely caring staff, and lovely food. We will be back to see the fantastic Natalie, Angela and Rita and the rest of the staff, what a lovely pleasant experience they gave us. Thank you for your hard work. I have never stayed in such a small hotel room. We stay all over the country in hotels on business so used our Best Western points, however we were charged an extortionate amount of points for this stay, much more than usual. Hence we expected a nice room. The reality was a tiny box room which is smaller than my hallway at home. The two of us can't get past each other. My husband was ironing sat in the end of the bed & completely blocked the entire space. When we arrived there was no clear signage for reception so I went to the bar & asked, only to be told it's self check in around the corner. Well that is all well & good but then how do you find your room, so we had to go back to the bar again to ask. My husband has just been to the bar & said there was no one there to serve, even though the place is empty. Down to the amenities , the only plug other than the kettle is on the floor in the hallway, nothing at the side of the bed. So we've had to plug our devices in on the floor. It's so tight that I can hardly get in the wardrobe which is tucked behind a dressing table with no stool, because of course there is no room for a stool. There is nowhere to put my case, so I had to leave it on the bedside cabinet. The bath room is a better size but needs new sealant & is showing mould. To top it all off we see a sign in the room telling us daily housekeeping not provided. Ahem...for environmental reasons, a outright ruse to save money if ever I saw one. I didn't book a hostel, I booked a so called hotel! The place is obviously run on a shoestring. The rooms are hostel like, no housekeeping & no service, absolutely appalling.

Ive stayed at this hotel many times in the past but doubt that i will again, the Hotel rooms are very tired and in need of a refurb, Bath was cracked, skirting and doorframe rotten and paint peeling off in many places. You now have to self check in and out on a tablet, including cutting your room keys, so no personal experience at all. There is also now no cleaning of the rooms during your stay, i assume this is another cost saving decision. Not sure where the cost savings on those decisions have gone but its not into the hotel. Overall makes the stay really basic and not something that i would repeat. Staff and food were good as normal but the rest really let it down.
