Hilton Sheffield Hotel

Best summary is it was average, no redeeming elements, nothing special, nothing awful. Just average. The better part, the deluxe suite had air con and was clearly newly refurbished. The balcony was a nice addon with canal view. But, it was dark, so dark, there is no main light, just a led strip on the headboard, and 2 little reading lights that shine down. There is also a lamp on the desk, but it was dim. Odd really. The bathroom though big and spacious and had both a rain fall and individual shower head. Check in experience, again average, not welcoming, not as if we were in the way. No explanation as to breakfast or our inclusive benefits. We were asked about parking and its cheaper inside than use the app, go figure. Breakfast at best is available, but it was luke warm, and mostly chewy. But the highlight were the baked goods, and juice. Don't bother with the brown stuff that pretended to be coffee. That said, the breakfast staff were trying, cheerful and seemed interesting. The bar was interesting, and I ask why bother with a cocktail menu if no one knows what they are and the take 10 minutes to make two? Better choices in town. Location wise, easy in to the centre, and lots of development work going on around it. Exercise some care when late at night, but didnt feel overally concerned. Pool was ok, steam room needed a good clean and some repairs. Broken tiles, missing covers etc. The showers were frankly awful. I tried 4 before I found one working (missing taps, missing ceiling tiles as examples) and clean enough to walk in, still wearing crocs, wasnt touching that floor. SOunds negative i know, but we paid little and for that it matched expectations. If i'd paid the normal rate, would have been more annoyed. It was as I said, average.

There Is only one word to describe this Hotel and the Staff.....absolutely outstanding !! ( ok, fair enough two words ). My Wife and I arrived early and enjoyed a drink at the bar, meeting a very friendly and professional member of Staff " Jack " and both Gentlemen behind the bar, ( unfortunately I didn't get their names ). The Lady on Reception then made a point of coming over to my Wife and I, advising that our rooms were ready, ( this was still before 3 pm ) again unfortunately I don't know this Ladys name. Our room ( 217 ) was very well appointed, with a very comfortable king size bed and large " walk out " balcony, with the best air conditioning I have ever known !!!!.. Breakfast was very enjoyable, unhurried and a " nice pace " and again Professional, friendly, attentive Staff. Please Ignore the negative reviews, this Hotel Is " up there " with the best of them .🙂

Had a 1 night stay at the sandman at the weekend for a joint birthday for myself and my partner. Arrived earlier than check in as we had plans, but was able to leave my car in secure car park. The staff on reception were very helpful and complimentary. Room was immaculate, air conditioned and clean. Massive bathroom and shower. We had a balcony overlooking the canal which was lovely as the weather was nice. On the nighttime we had a couple of drinks and a few small plates at the restaurant, the staff again were very helpful and also made my partner a cocktail which wasn’t on the menu on request. Cocktails were lovely and the food was also very nice! We had a comfortable sleep no noise disturbing us and the next morning the staff were very efficient with keeping the restaurant in order and clean, helpful and funny. The decor in the restaurant was also quite quirky and featured lots of music themes. Would definetly recommend and will return. Location was also good, Short uber ride away from centre or you could also walk it but I had the wrong footwear on :)
