Houseboat Hotels - Hotel boat

Wonderful memorable trip! We went away for a 2 night break and wanted something a bit different. I’m 6ft so I was a little unsure but there was nothing to worry about… the boat was comfortable and spacious, it had everything we needed. Ideal being able to park the car right next to the boat and everything within walking distance, although after lots of walking one day we cheated and got an Uber back from the city centre. We enjoyed the theatre, meal at Browns, Ego and True Loves, all recommended. We also enjoyed the atmosphere in the bars on division street. Check in was straightforward using the key safe and we loved watching tv in bed and listening to the radio throughout the boat. The boat felt safe and it was so quiet, the usual stresses left us instantly and we both relaxed so much we didn’t want to leave!

Neat, clean and very snug. We weren’t sure what to expect but it was a lovely surprise. We enjoyed a local bar which was walking distance of the boat as was the cafe for breakfast. Everyone we met gave us a northern welcome. Thank you.

I booked a night stay for me and my boyfriend to stay on the Millie grace - everywhere was quite pricey due to it being bank holiday weekend. We got an email from mark who was very helpful. Left us full directions (we still got lost) that's just us 😁 but he was always on the phone and would call back if needed to offer us advice! The boat is cute and well located. Next to a cafe which has cooked breakfast and a lovely little bar that plays live music at night - the locals are friendly and welcoming. The boat itself was lovely. Clean. Well presented and has all you would need. We walked across the bridge and went to the town and did some shopping most of the day so didn't spent alot of time in the boat itself. The bed was comfy - a bit chilly through the night so pack warm!! My only small niggle that made it not have 5 stars was the toilet. - you get charged if you block it which I can understand. (we didn't block it!) But it gave off a horrible sewagey smell all night... And it wasn't due to the fact I'm pregnant and my sense of smell is so strong but it did put me off. I woke up in the night a few times smelling it. No matter what I did. Sprayed. Shut the door etc. This was a bit of a let down unfortunately but I guess it comes with being a boat and having a tank system for the toilet. Apart from that.. all in all. We enjoyed our stay and would reccomend it. It's defiantly one off the list sleeping in a canal boat 👍
