The Inn At Strathyre

Booked last minute due to poor weather. Was very good price compared to other places. Booked a double room with private bathroom… note private bathroom does not me en-suite. Bathroom was fine though and only for our use. Room was good size and clean. Why a 5 start though? It was the location and the people. Had such a great evening with the other guests and locals in the bar.

Arrived at 5.30pm after 27km of the Rob Roy Way to find the door locked and a sign on the door giving g a number to call. Rang numerous times. Phone rang out. Left a voicemail and never had my call returned. Fortunately kind locals gave us a lift to Callander and we were able to sort an alternative. Absolutely shocking. I’d spoken to them a week before we travelled to confirm everything. Avoid like the plague.

From white stag to an old bag. Friends and I arrived after a long day cycling to find out our booking was cancelled due to overbooking. The owner was most unhelpful and passed us to her neighbour hotel that was almost derelict with no running water and clearly not in business. It went from bad to worse as by the time we found new residence for the night the only place we could get food was the white stag. I had a pizza that was clearly frozen, burnt and nearly smashed the plate when I dropped it. Previously stayed here 2 years ago and it was superb with extremely friendly staff amd top quality food. Sad how a new owner can let standards deteriate so badly. Clear to say I wont be back.
