The wedding which was in the pavillion was very noisy until 11pm. When I booked it said that the rooms in the main house would be quiet so we paid more for a room in the house. One of the wedding party came to breakfast in her pyjamas which I found tasteless. Surely she should have been told to go put some clothes on ! I am most outraged however by the charge for restocking the two small bottles of water in the room. We were charged an astonishing £6.75 per bottle. When my husband queried it he was told that was the price. Also the dining was closed on Sunday evening. We were not notified of this before our stay and had to travel several miles to find somewhere else. The hotel is in a lovely setting but we won't be staying again.

Stayed here at end of July 2026 for a couple of days whilst visiting Bury St Edmunds. Since we had the dog with us we were put in a separate mews annexe. No issues with that but the walls were a bit thin so all movements can be heard! The hotel has a decent bar area and restaurant.Since it was such a hot spell we ate and drank outside in the open area and had no complaints. The hotel has an outdoor swimming pool but be aware that it is open to non residents in the day time. My bangers and mash were really nice. My wife’s risotto was “okay”. The ciabattas we both had the next evening were very tasty. Can’t fault breakfast either. All served by very pleasant staff.
