We booked a last minute overnight stay and were slightly concerned, having read some disappointing reviews.
However, from our arrival until our departure, we were very pleasantly surprised. Our room, overlooking the golf course and with a lovely balcony, was spotlessly clean and the bathroom was clearly newly installed and beautiful.
We ate dinner in the restaurant, which was tasty and plentiful. The staff were really helpful and nothing was too much trouble.
This morning, I swam in the pool and there were only two other people so it was relaxing and peaceful. My partner used the gym and thought it was great too.
Breakfast was buffet style. The waitress was helpful and friendly. Breakfast itself offered everything anyone could need and the dining room was busy with golfing groups preparing to go out for the day.
We will definitely return and we would recommend a room with a view (and a balcony), on the first floor! A lovely stay, thank you.

This is a big hotel, with no air conditioning in the rooms so they were very hot. The fan we were supplied for our room only moved the hot air around. I know the heatwave was not the hotels problem but, in this instance, if we had not already paid for our room, we would have looked for somewhere else which did have air conditioning. The room was acceptably clean, linens and towels very clean but furniture is tired and everywhere looks like it could do with a deep clean.
We were on a motorcycle and did not have a lot of packing space so we asked if we could borrow a couple of bathrobes just for the one night so we could go to and from the pool straight from our room. Upon asking at the Spa reception I was told very abruptly “No the robes are for paying spa guests only”. I was willing to leave a credit card deposit, and I was an overnight hotel guest but was told again very abruptly that no they were not prepared to do this. Very disappointing that nothing could be done as a one off for us.
The breakfast was OK, however the restaurant had not been vacuumed from dinner from the night before. There was quite a lot of food on the floor and under the tables, ranging from chips to sweet wrappers to peas and lots of crumbs. We were constantly asking for the food to be replenished which seemed to take quite some time after each request. The waitress table clearing service was virtually non-existent; lots of tables were left uncleared for long periods of time and some did not get cleared the whole time we were having our breakfast.
This was not worth the money we paid for our overnight stay.

⭐☆☆☆☆ Huge disappointment – Dirty rooms, awful food, and zero attention to detail
We were gifted a overnight stay with spa and dinner through Red Letter Days and were so excited, but unfortunately, it was a total letdown from start to finish. After a two-hour drive, our expectations were completely shattered.
We were told we had been "upgraded," but I’d hate to see what we were upgraded from—I’ve had cleaner stays in a bivvy while fishing! The room was filthy: stained carpets and walls, watermarks in the bathroom, dirty glasses, and a hair in the bath. To top it off, the furniture still had white car-boot price stickers on it. Reception did politely move us to a better room, but the damage was already done.
Dinner was equally dismal. We found out "included dinner" was actually just an allowance per person. The restaurant had a sad, lackluster atmosphere, with cracking seats, dirty tables, and food crumbs left on the floor. When the meal arrived, my slow-cooked lamb was so tough it was like trying to cut and chew old leather. My partner's "cod loin" was just a fillet folded in half and drowned in cream sauce.
We didn't even end up using the spa facilities because the floors were dirty and the whole area had a grimy feel.
To their credit, the staff were polite and reactive when we raised issues (they offered a free drink for the inedible lamb), but reactive service doesn't fix a total lack of basic standards. Compared to the Airbnb properties we stayed in earlier that week, this fell completely flat. What should have been a wonderful, relaxing treat felt more like a low-standard hostel. Safe to say we won't be back.
