The Talbot Inn

We have just left after an extremely poor two night virgin experience. It certainly is not a 4 star hotel and lots of guests were all saying the same at breakfast this morning. When I spoke to the lady on checkout this morning, she never asked me any for any further details and said “she shouldn’t have asked about our stay”. The whole place needs a thoroughly good clean, bedroom 12 is full of dust and cobwebs, stained carpet, the shower unit needs ripping out. Black mould on the tiles, shower head needs descaling as the water trickles out of 3 holes, stains up the walls and bathroom door. Upon arrival on Friday we were greeted by a lovely gentleman, however, the other staff throughout our experience were very poor. We decided to have a drink in the bar on Friday evening, after waiting 10 mins, I had to fetch the guy who greeted us at reception to serve us, as there were no other staff about. Completely no atmosphere, and very unwelcoming. Breakfast on Saturday morning, we were greeted by two very young girls who were completely disinterested. They asked us what room number we were and advised that we could sit anywhere as it was a buffet. We walked all around the restaurant and all the tables were reserved. Surely it would have been helpful to inform guests the only tables available were the ones that over looking the garden area. There were lots of tables that hadn’t been cleared and cleaned and remnants of food on the floor which was still there the following morning at breakfast!! I have lots of photographs and would be more than happy to share. Such a shame as this place has lots of potential, but I’m afraid I would not return or would I recommend, it is certainly not the standard you would expect from a four star hotel or a virgin experience.

Absolutely filthy. When reported to reception said "oh ok". Put in Wisely block and heard same from other guests. Breakfast staff standing around had to ask for things to be refilled. The bed was comfy, best I can come up with. Certainly not 4*

The staff could not have been more helpful, warm and friendly. It made thus unplanned and difficult stay for personal reasons so much easier. The location is fantastic, so peaceful and quiet and it has everything you need. Would highly recommend and so well priced. Thanks for everything.
