Tongue Hotel

This is a good hotel to use as a stopover on the NC 500 tour as it'slocationis perfect. It is comfortable although our room was rather small and the bathroom was outdated and reminded me of a care home! Restaurant was good and overall this hotel did its job. Not remarkable in any way but perfectly fine for an overnight stop over.

We, my mother, my husband, and I, were driving the NC500 and wanted to take a short lunch break. We naturally ended up at the hotel entrance and were sent very rudely to the next door. This was, however, about 80 meters away. That was already very difficult for my mobility-impaired mother. Arriving at the Brass Tap, we ordered two seafood platters and a Caesar salad with shrimp. Unfortunately, the seafood "platter" consisted of a small piece of gravlax, one fried shrimp, two spoonfuls of crab, and a slice of smoked salmon. Lovelessly garnished with a lemon wedge and a lettuce leaf, no side dishes!!! For the proud price of 20 pounds! My husband had the salad! Unfortunately, it was just as lovelessly prepared as the seafood platter. Just chopped Lollo Rosso with dressing and five shrimp. Not as known with romaine lettuce, croutons, cherry tomatoes, parmesan, and chicken breast. Unfortunately, also no bread! For the size of a side salad without any other garnish, with five small shrimp, we paid a proud 20 pounds. 10 pounds for the salad without extras, plus 10 pounds for the shrimp!! For these three very small dishes plus three drinks, we paid the proud price of 80 pounds!! Miserable price-performance ratio!!!!

A great hotel with very comfortable, large rooms and a good location on the top of Scotland. The complimentary mini decanter of sherry in the room on arrival is a nice touch that helps you unwind as you shower and freshen up and prepare for the excellent dinner in the hotel restaurant. Great and varied breakfast too.
