Heroes Hotel - Hostel

Would not recommend this hotel it's not even a hotel. Stayed here for a few nights with my girlfriend early hours on Sunday morning between 4.45am I got woken up by loud banging noises from someone what sounded like on the street outside the building the noises was making me scared and panicked. They sounded like they we're breaking down the front door main entrance it was absolutely horrible to hear these noises. To hear the person shouting and banging the door down. I was scared but not just that me and girlfriend have anxiety. I woke my girlfriend up crying and really scared we heard the ppl inside the building banging making noises. Me and my girlfriend got all our stuff packed up and left at 5am. This place isn't safe don't stay here.

We paid £130 for one nights stay here and when we arrived, it became apparent that this place is absolutely not worth the money. There was faeces in the toilet, no door on the shower, limescale and dirt all over the shower, mattresses stained with urine and rotten floor boards. In the room was 1 set of 3 bunk beds , no chair, no mirror, a window that opened 2-3cm it was very claustrophobic. Absolutely would not recommend. I would expect to pay about £20 per night to stay here, and that’s being generous!!!

went as a group of 9 girls to Newcastle and stayed in YHA hostel for two nights which was lovely and made us all feel very safe, when telling the staff we were staying at Heroes they pulled a face and said it’s very different and you definitely get what you pay for, having paid £187 for one night we were expecting basic but at the very least a safe place to stay. i booked in november and was charged straight away which was fine, but then after arriving in december to the property the money was taken again, the man we spoke to on the phone was lovely and sorted a refund, but was slightly concerned as to why my details were kept a month later as that may be illegal? when we arrived we were faced with 3 key codes (we are unsure if they change the codes). the room was dirty and the walls were covered in weird stains, the duvets were also covered in similar stains. the batteries on our side of the door, that kept it locked weren’t securely fastened with a plastic back and so if they fell out, we’d be locked out our room, luckily we had some tape so managed to temporarily solve that problem. the bathroom was okay, probably would avoid the shower. there was an unknown brown substance on the door handle. even being a big group didn’t make us feel safe, for the same amount of money, i’d probably go for a premier inn which isn’t quite as central, because it would definitely feel safer.
