Ty Rosa - Bed & Breakfast

This visit was awful, the two owners are not at the guest house hardly ever, which isn't great, they have a jobless male and female living upstairs permanently, and I'm assuming in return for free rent they clean and greet guests, both are horrid scruffy people, and extremely unhelpfull, my room the single room, was like a prison cell, small bleak in desperate need of redecoration, tv worked when it wanted to, dust visible in many places, not great for my asthma, the bedding was clean but one pillow heavily stained, which was gross, the male living in the attic room with his female, did not help with my issues and I failed to see the proprietor during my short stay to make a complaint, my understanding is that both proprietors work in full time jobs, and longer spend hardly any time at the guest house, one toilet and shower shared between five rooms is deplorable, if someone is taking their time in toilet what do you do?? The surrounding area consists of hot properties housing what looks like vulnerable adults with certain addictions, I find some of the reviews giving 4 or 5 stars as frankly bewildering, I'm assuming these are the people living in the attic flat for free, the proprietors and friends that ate leaving these unhelpful dishonest reviews! I'd appreciate a reply and public apology from the proprietors for my stay, this guest house is a very long 25 min walk from Cardiff Central train station £12 taxi fair 1 way, it is Not close to all amenities, or the actual city centre whatsoever I would NOT stay again

Well, firstly, the people that are given this more than one star I clearly either friends and family or being paid!! There is no parking whatsoever. This is a manky old terraced house on a long Street with no parking whatsoever, and the place is absolutely disgustingly filthy, see pictures. There is a layer of grime dirt and dust all over everything accompanying that is the smell of dirty animals and house. Cats didn’t venture into any of the communal areas as the smell put me off all outside‘s place has been completely neglected. and there are weeds growing out of all the gutters the room itself in addition to being disgusting dirty. Also had a Hidden Boiler in the corner, which I didn’t find safe at all in a bedroom. The area itself didn’t feel safe at all I work away from home during the week and stopping hotels and B&Bs 46 weeks of the year and can say this is. Possibly the one of the worst I’ve ever stayed in. I will never return. I suggest you avoid this place at all costs.

When you've waited at the airport for 3 hours, sat through a 9.5 hour flight, walked 2 miles to the train station, rode the train for almost 3 hours and then walked another 20 minutes to your B&B dragging your suitcase behind you, you really really need a place you can rest, recuperate, and get a good night's sleep. This is not that place. Ty Rosa looks like a lovely place to stay, and it apparently was at one time. Their online presence paints a picture of an attractive, comfortable place to stay with friendly and attentive hosts. What we found was a cramped space badly in need of repairs, a bed that was so hard it hurt to sleep on, noisy surroundings due to people coming and going and climbing the stairs, and a host that couldn't be bothered to see us at all - we only met him by chance when we were leaving. When we arrived, he had taped an envelope to the door with the key to our room. There is no breakfast. He just recommends you walk to a nearby restaurant. Our room was so small that if one person was standing by the bed and the other wanted to get to the toilet, the first person would need to walk away and stand by the door so the other person could walk past the bed and access the toilet. I might add, the neighborhood is not so great. Many of the houses have junk and garbage cluttering up their front gardens. It's about a 40 minute walk to the city center, so you're not paying for location. We were going to stay for two more nights, but we cancelled that and stayed at the Travelodge instead. For the same price, we were right there at the train station, close to the restaurants downtown, and had a comfortable bed. If only we'd done that to start with.
