Paid over £100 for a room that was not only extremely shabby and not particularly clean but one I couldn’t use as not accessible and I’m a wheelchair user. Having booked and paid for said room in advance checking that it was fully accessible for a wheelchair user I was told the shower chair was broken (not ideal but no problem I’d bring my own). On arrival the disabled parking bay is no bigger than others and is beside planting and a kerb so no way you can get out if have a disability. The room was cramped making it difficult to get to the bed in my chair but the worst bit was the bathroom, there was a huge step up to the raised shower tray which was impossible for me to climb, the toilet had one fold down grab rail beside it but it was so low it made transferring onto it really quite dangerous. Had I just booked this room online I could have accepted that I didn’t do my full research into if it was appropriate or not but knowing how difficult it is to find accessible accommodation I called and spoke at length to the hotel to book this room explaining I was in a wheelchair with a spinal cord injury. When we arrived it was too late to find somewhere else and we needed to stay overnight for a family funeral the next morning. The hotel experience made a painful and stressful weekend even more so. I did try to reach out to the hotel via personal email first to see if they wanted to address any of these issues before I wrote a review but alas that was ignored. I understand the hotel is undergoing refurbishment but that does not excuse charging over £100 for a room that is not fully useable. You will also see from my photos that the emergency cord was tied up (is meant to be to the floor so if I fell I could pull it). The shower stool in photo is mine from home (was wishful thinking I’d be able to get to it up that step). Under the Equality Act 2010, service providers must make reasonable adjustments for disabled customers and treat them no less favorably than others. Failing to provide a guaranteed accessible room can constitute unlawful discrimination. I would expect at the very least a partial refund. Nothing was offered in way of compensation during my stay.

A very warm welcome upon arrival.Downhill from there!I was told that I would have to pay for parking at £8.00 per day. I was told it would be free had I booked with the hotel direct!!!!!! The room was pleasant but the bedsheets were stained and we requested that they be changed. There was no phone in the room so it meant a trip to reception. I then noticed that there was no fire escape plan in the room which of course is illegal. On our last night the room had not been made up despite several visits to reception. The hosekeeper arrived at 8.30 pm.No cleaning just new sheets and towels. I am told that the hotel is under new managent but come on guys.....get your act together.

My company I worked for booked a night for me as I was working away from home. (Done me dirty) My room had what only can be described as dried puke on the floor. The bathroom floor was completely broken couldn’t stand on it without it cracking. The heating was on but my window was broken. My toilet seat was falling off. There was holes in the wall plugged with tissue. My pillow had a tumour. I had a full English for breakfast but the beans was colder than a penguins foot. The bread would have done a better job filling the holes in the wall. There was one member of staff in the hotel working the reception/ bar/ and everything in between. She was very friendly and polite but let down by poor amenities. Wouldn’t stay again even if I was dead.
