The Lansdowne Hotel

We stopped here because of the location to the town centre. On arrival the staff were very professional and helpful. Breakfast, although continental was spot-on. There is limited free parking bearing in mind the guest house has 16 rooms. Although the establishment is looking tired and the rooms are relatively small, my only dislike was the fact that we could hear guests above and in other rooms turning their extraction fan on and using their bathroom in the early hours. You could also hear the otherTVs as they were so loud. I think the walls are quite thin being an older establishment and being a light sleeper i was woken up in the night with other guests moving about and did not sleep well!

Great three night stay. We were arriving late, the hotel phoned us to let us know where to find the key. Room was at the front of the hotel with dual aspect window. Nice size room, everything very clean. Have seen comments about noise from the road but we didn't find it a problem at all. Breakfast was continental but a good choice of cereals, fresh fruit, juices, coffee, and pastries. All very good. Car park is small though only enough for a few cars, but we were lucky to find a space on the two occasions we moved the car virtually right outside the hotel. Staff were really helpful with organising a parking permit if parked on the road. Only a 15 minute walk to the station and lots of restaurants nearby. Would recommend the Italian across the road from the hotel. Lovely food, if a little quiet in there.

Very average hotel, with an air of disappointment, on a busy crossroads. No cooked breakfast. Poor continental breakfast as even the bread and jam are basic. The car park is tiny and difficult to park in. Chosen for convenience alone. Am sure there are better hotels.
